One of my New Year's goals was to learn how to play harmonica. I have a perfect teacher, my husband, who happens to be a great harmonica player. He attempted to give me a couple of lessons about two years ago, but I'm somehow forgetting why we stopped. I think it was because he lost patience with me as I kept hitting the wrong notes. Or, did I lose interest because I soon realized that this is going to be a long process and I'm famously lacking patience? Yeah, I think it was the latter. (And, I got sore lips.)
But, I've had a great desire lately to learn how to play. So, in order to familiarize myself with this instrument I've been slowly locating the boxes where Terry's harmonicas are stored...
This box of harmonicas accompanied him on his travels through Africa and Asia. It's an old Dutch tin cigar box (note the hindu god decals he decorated the box with) which perfectly held nine harmonicas. As I have learned there are 12 harmonica keys, but he never played several of them. Why? I guess I'll soon learn!
Let's open the tin box... and here they are...
I love this peacock feather he kept in there.
And here are a couple more, new, still in their boxes, that we'll be using for learning and throwing on the floor in frustration...
Hmm, do you think I will have to forget about my lipstick while I'm playing?
Impossible, I can never be without lipstick, I wear lipstick even when I'm cleaning! I think this requires for me to go some permanent lipstick shopping.
Btw, this would be a good add for permanent lipstick: ~ It takes you through your harmonica lessons without a smudge. ~ Maybe I have a future as a copy writer?:)
Will keep you posted on my progress.
