Today, Katie wore...

What Katie Wore is my absolutely favorite blog. Even if I'm horribly busy and distracted I will check to see what Katie wore today. I wrote about the blog in one of my previous posts, but to sum it up again, it's a blog where Katie wears clothes - every day a different outfit, and Joe, her boyfriend takes pictures and describes what she's wearing. I know that there are many blogs of similar type now days, but what's different about this one is Katie.

The legend is that Katie accused Joe of not being romantic and to prove her wrong he set up the whole blog clothes-wearing thing. So, the challenge that started about a year ago was for Katie to come up with a different outfit for every day of the year. She could use the same items of clothing, but the combination had to always be different. And, boy, did she meet the challenge! 

Katie was already well known in her circles for her colorful dressing style, but now she truly went out there. Some of the outfits she put together were really outrageous and absolutely mind blowing. See for yourself. I love visiting this spot in the internet universe as they always put a smile on my face. Katie never fails to give us the brightest and widest smile, never fails to be lovely, charming and unique, and Joe's descriptions are always hilarious.

The challenge was over this month, but urged and begged by their readers Katie and Joe decided to continue on and even created an additional sub-blog, What You Wore where the readers can submit pictures of their own outfits.

Katie has become quite famous, was featured in many fashion magazines and well know newspapers, was invited to fashion shoots and other events, received many gifts from people utterly besotted by her and eager for her to wear their item on her blog. You can imagine how popular that made Joe with Katie as he was an initiator of the whole thing :).

Anyway, today, Katie wore one of my necklaces! I was so thrilled and excited about it.

What Katie Wore

I recently discovered What Katie Wore, a blog run by a couple, Joe and Katie. The blog documents Katie's daily outfits. Joe writes the words (he's hilarious in a way only Brits can be) and Katie wears the clothes, a different outfit every day for a year (she dresses in a way that only Brits can pull it off.)

 

Katie's outfits... what can I say except oh dear and god bless her. I would never even dream of putting those colors or pieces of clothing together, but she looks gorgeous, endearing and so lovely. The blog has become my daily staple of good mood, color, inspiration and funny... it's like entering a beautiful, wild, magic garden, that grows whatever it pleases... carrots on top of cherries, lettuce in the laps of roses, watermelons and sour patch kids in the strawberry patch. And like that.

"TAKEN ON NATIONAL LULU DAY"

 

         

 

"Some serious excitement yesterday. I got a package at work. It had a Lulu Guinness handbag in it (a Colour Flash Elongated Pollyanna Clutch to be precise). It turns out Lulu (you know, like, global fashion lady extraordinaire, OBE, Katie’s fashion hero, etc. etc.) had seen the blog and liked Katie’s “style”. I call Katie. Katie squeals. She squeals again when I hand the handbag over. Katie spends several hours stroking the handbag, squealing intermittently. Putting things in the handbag. Taking things out of the handbag. And, finally, coordinating an outfit to match every colour on the handbag. It is beautiful though, isn’t it? Thank you Lulu. You’ve made me very popular at home."

 

"TAKEN WHEN WE WENT TO THE GOLDSMITHS MFA"

 

         

 

"We’re perhaps not fully recovered from jet lag / Montezuma’s revenge so going to take it easy today. Here’s Katie in her Saturday slobbing clothes (yes, most people would wear trackies) – I think we’re going to have a mooch around the Goldsmiths College MFA show and maybe eat a fry up. One of Katie’s more unusual outifts today – it consists of American Apparel two-coloured tights, my Local Celebrity T-Shirt with chest hair and cigars, H&M dress and the Cartier. Odd but very nice."

 

"TAKEN AFTER LUNCH AT CECCONI'S"

 

        

 

"We’ve been utterly spoiled. Last night we had amazing Italian food at Zafferano’s and we’ve just had more amazing Italian food for lunch at Cecconi’s. It was lovely to see David, Jane, Heather and Peter. Now Katie is off to a party and I’ve got to try and get some work done (I might need to open a bottle of something to get me through it). Katie is looking especially summery today – she’s wearing an awesome jumpsuit from ASOS, necklace from Chic & Unique, Georgina Goodman shoes and is carrying a Smythson bag with a present in it for the party girl."

 

 

"TAKEN AFTER FIVE MONTHS OF WEARING STUFF"

 

                 

 

"We’ve hit the 5/12 mark of the project. That’s almost 6/12. Which is equal to 1/2. Which means, one half. We’re almost halfway through. To celebrate this epic milestone, Katie is wearing a Whistles skirt, MFB necklace, Pinko grey jersey top and Topshop fluorescent top."

 

"TAKEN AFTER BOOKING A HOLIDAY!"

 

             

 

"Hooray! We booked a holiday last night and will shortly be jetting off to a secret complex evocative of a Futuristic South American Mayan lair of a Bond Baddie. Assuming that  I’m not driven to a work related suicide in the next fortnight, it will definitely be utterly excellent. Katie’s celebration outfit entails American Apparel tights, New Look dress, Imitz silk skirt and some silly necklace thing that was purchased in a shop on Brick Lane that no longer exists."

 

"TAKEN WHEN KATIE PLOTTED TO MURDER MICE"

 

         

 

"We’ve got a lovely little mouse called Midnight Christopher that lives under our washing machine and eats stuff I drop on the kitchen floor. He’s really cute, doesn’t make any noise and probably hopes to meet a lady mouse and have mice babies one day. Well not any more. Today Katie and Haleigh have called the authorities on Midnight Christopher and are going to poison him to death. My murderous girlfriend is wearing her killing outfit, and doesn’t she look smug? Coral shoes from Dolcis, French Connection sweatshirt and Day, Birger et Mikkelsen silk skirt."

Morning rituals.

 

Coffee - Cafe Trieste's Dark French Roast Supreme, freshly ground, made with perfection by husband.

 

 

Blogs - there are a number of great blogs I follow daily (see links on the right sidebar), but the one I'm looking forward to the most is... The English Muse.

 

 

Immensly inspirational, tremenduosly entertaining, incredibly lovely and so in tune. And, her name is also Tina! I love reading her stories about The Girl with the Pink Gloves, finding a note from Marilyn...
