Odette - innocent Swan Queen heroine of Swan Lake; Odile - the temptress who impersonates Odette in order to deceive the Prince. In most productions the two contrasting roles are danced by the same ballerina. Odette/Odile, one of the most fascinating roles in ballet.
I am completely seduced by Odile...
... the dazzling black swan...
... the mischievous seductive diva...
... the one who creates desires and satisfies fantasies...
... a woman of experience, a voluptuous seductress.

It's the perfect yin/yang, isn't it? And it's so right that they are both danced by the same artist, because...really, aren't both these characters present in every woman? That's what makes a classic.

Such a good post the pics are lovely, the pic with the ballet shoes would make a lovely papercut too.

Hi there, I found your blog when I was looking for a link to a photo of Odile for a story on black plants for my gardening blog! And I love this story! I have linked your post/photo to my "A Heart of Darkness" article where I mention Odile. This perfectly captures the mood I imagined. I agree that Odile is much more interesting to me than her alter-ego ever could be...
All the best to you,
Michaela
