Ever since Terry got me my bell jar I was eager to make some sort of an installation inside it. The glass dome just calls for it. I was at a loss at what that installation should be, until this idea developed of a ladies salon, flapper salon, to be precise. A quirky flapper salon to be even more precise. And after I've put one together, my husband appropriately and very wisely named it "The Salon of Broken Ladies."
So, here it is...
... stylish, hedonistic young women, discussing life, broken hearts and... limbs, and loosing their heads for love. Fun dolls, that perhaps on occasion had too much fun along the way. "There's no such thing as too much fun!" - they yelped in unison.
While hunting for the miniature parts for this salon I got so obsessed with little furniture, tiny telephones, cute as button animals (see the parrot?). I had a hard time stopping myself from getting everything from a tarot table to an ironing board. There is a whole miniature world out there I wanted to build! Luckily, I was limited with bell jar space.
I think this corner of our home is slowly but surely on it's way of becoming our "cabinet of curiosities."
Broken ladies, taken back in time with a little help from photoshop.
