I love unusual wall displays, although I'm not very experimental with what I do on my walls. I mostly go for symmetry, precision and order. I don't really take out a measuring tape every time I'm putting something on the wall (I'm pretty good at eyeballing), and I don't go crazy if something is a quarter of an inch lower (but, no more than that!), but I've always liked there to be order on the walls. Now, I'm kind of trying to teach myself to let loose a bit, use my imagination, realize that there are no rules. Why not do something a bit unusual. For instance, use some of the frames more as shelves, than frames. See example here...
I love the Van Gogh sunflower bag and lined up miniature paintings.
Or, go really wild with the assortment of shapes, colors and types...
I'm dying to get a faux acrylic deer head. Aren't you? :D
Use the frames (and vintage forks and spoons?) to display my jewelry...
I keep my personal jewelry in an antique Japanese plate and they always get hopelessly entangled. This would be a perfect solution.
...
Or, I could perhaps just add some color to my precision...
... and order.
This is such a lovely room. The sofa fabric is divine.
And, of course, the perfect symmetry of plates is particularly pleasing to my eyes. :)
Good night!

Oh lovely as usual, Tina. I laughed at the first shot--my mother collected antique frames (& ones that were just old & she liked the look). We hung them up, filled or not. We weren't as elaborate as the ones above, but I did place a few things in them.
I'm collecting bits & pieces from around the apt. that never fit where they are, or I don't see any longer because they've occupied the same space for too long., from trunks, from things people have been sending me. Also, I just bought a pkg of antique Victorian porcelain tacks on etsy & arrived in today's post. (I know, what?)
So all this stuff is in one box, ready to be arranged for a real inspiration/what-I-like wall above my desk. I'm waiting until after maintenance paints the whole place in a week. I'm going to housesit for friends for a week...and in that time, the bath, kitchen, everything but my bedroom (which is already fine) will be torn out (bath, stove, etc.) & redone. I cannot wait. Nothing has really been done since 1991 & that's my fault. You know things are bad when maintenance approaches you: don't you want a nicer bathroom? YES!
So, packing up Julie & letting them have at it for a week. I'll be using a lot of your posts for ideas & I'd just like to say thank you for being so generous. With everything.
xoxo
