I've been obsessing lately about creating a plate wall (like everybody else in the blogosphere, it seems). There are so many different ways to display them, so many ways to go.
I've been wanting to start a plate collection for a while now, both to use everyday and to display on the wall. But, I can't make up my mind and decide on that first plate of the collection - there's a lot at stake here, you know. :)
I'm not sure whether I should collect according to color (blues and greens), or whether I should collect plates with birds (I'm crazy about the birds), or shape (see hexagonal below).
Lately I've been thinking to assemble a leaf plate wall (thisis the type of plate I was thinking of). Perhaps with a couple of plates with birds thrown in. Decisions, decisions.
All I'm sure of is that I love the amazing John Derian plates. If I could afford them, I would definitely collect them.

There are so many stunning and imaginative plate walls out there, here are some that have particularly stuck with me...
Lovely contrast with the checkered wallpaper.
...
Dark, brooding, colonial.
...
A basket wall.
...
A wooden plate wall. (Isn't that shovel and rake poster great?)
...
Wonderful Fornasetti plates.
...
Plates and trunks (love the plate with a portrait of a woman).
...
Plates going down the stairs...
...
and up.
...
Pale, simple plates against a window... or is it a photo?
...
A king bird plate(s). This is an ultimate bird plate wall.
...
And my favorite, fish plate wall.
...
I have to get that plate wall together!
xoxoxo

I don't normally like plate collages on walls, but the bird and the fish intrigue me. Actually really love the fish! Goes to show, any thing can be interesting if you put some thought into it.
