I haven't painted in ages, bust lately I've had an strong desire to grab my brushes and paints again. I've been very inspired by portraits done by old masters (with dark backgrounds or simple landscape or scenery background) and portraits from the period from 1930-1950s with simple color background. I found some incredible portraits lately so let me share them with you here. Move your mouse or cursor over the photo to find out the name of the artist/paiting:
Aren't these incredible! Hopefully I'll pick up my brush in a day or two.
xoxoxo
Get those paints and brushes out! Stop wishing and start doing! With all of that wonderful inspiration you can only succeed!

Last week, I opened my red "Biscuterie Traou Mad de Pont Aven" metal box where I have been keeping my oil pastels for over ten years and began drawing again. (You can see my first drawing in one of my blog posts, in case you are curious how it came out.) Nothing compares to drawing and painting.
So, to get to the point: I fully encourage you to just break out those paints! And I hope you will share a peek at what you accomplish.
The paintings you assembled here really demonstrate the variety of the female character; very interesting to see a type of painting gathered together.
Also, kudos on the scroll-over feature.
Finally, I thoroughly enjoyed this other post on paintings of women reading on a blog I just found, so thought I'd pass it on, in case you enjoy it too: http://etre-soi.blogspot.com/2011/02/paintings-women-with-books-2.html
Have a lovely Sunday!

Oh Tina...these are wonderful. Thank you for the inspiration. If I could paint, I'd be painting today. I hope we'll see some new work from you soon. Get to it! (Well, after the Oscars tonight:)
